Stop faceless thugs from roaming our streets

Our calls and emails about S209 (No warrantless arrests in protected places) saved the bill!
It passed the House and will head back to the Senate.
In the meantime, the House Judiciary Committee stripped federal agents from S208 which requires law enforcement to be identifiable and not cover their faces.
Now is the time to reach out to your reps and tell them to put back the controls on federal agents.
No secret police in Vermont!

Call the Sergeant-at-Arms (802-828-2228) and leave a message for your rep.
They'll ask your name and town. Tell them to to add federal agents back into S208 (Law Enforcement Identification) and vote YES.
Don't know your rep? Ask the Sergeant or look here.

Lean Left Phonebanking

Every Sunday | 4:00-6:00 PM
From your computer

Yahoo!
Virginia redistricting wins! 51 to 49 percent. Kudos to our postcarders and phone bankers who helped make this happen!
This is a clear example that these efforts work in close contests. We were part of a team that made over 1,000,000 calls!
Critical midterm elections are approaching and many elections are won by tiny margins. Phone banking is one of the most effective actions we can take.

The goal is helping folks register and vote - not pushing specific candidates.
All you need is your computer. Training provided.

Weekly ICE Vigils

Every Wednesday | 4:00-5:00 PM (new time, starting 3/25)
ICE Federal Data Center | 188 Harvest Lane, Williston
Park at East Rise Credit Union

Bring a bench, chair or cushion, warm clothes, blanket, hand and feet warmers, umbrella. Our meditative sit is an opportunity to work with the challenging energy of this time energy which manifests in many ways, including the suffering caused by ICE in our community, in our world, and in our hearts. Our aspiration is not to judge the people who work in the building, but to change the energy that leads to present attitudes and policies.

If you choose to bring a sign, we hope that your message will respectfully raise questions about ICE's policies and actions, and convey our appreciation for migrants, and their right to fair and legal treatment. More info: Anne Damrosch.

Uphold the mission of our Vermont National Guard

Join your neighbors in telling Governor Phil Scott to hold the line against demands that the Vermont National Guard deploy illegally.

* We oppose sending Vermont's National Guard to American cities.
* We oppose any use of our National Guard to target civilians.
* We oppose the use of our National Guard in unsanctioned and illegal military operations overseas.

Stop the National Surveillance Center

ICE is currently using White Cap Business Park in Williston to host their National Criminal Analysis and Targeting Center, which is used to spy on communities across the country and target immigrants for deportation. They are planning to bring in more spies this spring. Help get ICE surveillance out of Williston before they can scale up... Details here.

Vermont is maple syrup and ... insurance?

Yes, Vermont is the #1 state for a special product delightfully called "captive insurance". For instance, Florina Insurance is a Vermont company that only insures facilities owned by GEO group, which runs over 100 ICE detention centers...
