Potlucks are whatever we want them to be: simple or complicated, very planned or very loose. Do what feels right to you. Make it a dinner potluck and ask people for specific types of dishes (salads, mains, desserts), or just make it all luck of the draw! Host a brunch potluck with more time for making protest posters afterward. Consider a tea time potluck where everyone is invited to bring cookies and stories of protests. We made the whole weekend #potluckstrong so you can create the event that you want to host!
Invite people you know and trust. Or people you don't know well, but still have good reason to trust (they have been on your street for years, they are friends with someone you trust).
Don't make the invitation public.
Keep it comfortable. Invite only as many people as feels right for you.
Host it in your home at the time that works for you...
Team up with your roommates to host a potluck together...
Work with a friend to host at their house and offer to be a co-host...
Have a tiny potluck in your tiny apartment with a couple neighbors...
Skip the potluck and have a little gathering at a cafe.
Plates, cups, silverware, and napkins. Or you can ask a friend to bring these instead of bringing food to the potluck.
Some serving spoons come in handy. A compost bucket is a good idea.
